Shimano Carbon Clincher Wheel Recall

Shimano, in cooperation with the USCPS, has initiated a voluntary recall and replacement program for its Dura-Ace carbon clincher wheels (model WH-7850) sold from April 2008 to August 2008. The rim surface and spoke-hole plugs can puncture the inner tube, resulting in a flat tire and posing a fall hazard. No accidents or injuries have been reported.

If you own the recalled Shimano Dura-Ace carbon clincher wheels, immediately stop using them and return them to the place of purchase (us) so we can replace the spoke-hole plugs with rim tape.

IDENTIFYING THE RECALLED WHEELS

  • Sold between April 2008 and August 2008.
  • Say "carbon 1380" on the rim in red and white (see Figure 1).
  • Model number WH-7850 written in white on the rim (Figure 2).
  • There are blue Shimano spoke-hole plugs inside the rims (Figure 3).

If your wheels are part of this recall, please stop using them immediately and bring them to us so we can replace the spoke-hole plugs with rim tape.
